Black History month
Black History month is here and we at monkey puzzle are doing a range of different activities within our rooms to promote diversity in our setting, and celebrating each one of us and where we come from.
The week of the 23rd October 2017, we will be having a week of different cultural foods for the children’s meals each day will be as following
Monday – Italy: Spaghetti and meatballs, Garlic bread, garden salad and ice cream
Tuesday – Mexico: Chilli con carne, rice, tortilla chips, salsa and fruit salad
Wednesday – China: Chicken stir fry, spring rolls and jelly with fruit
Thursday – Caribbean: Curry mutton, rice, coleslaw and mango sorbet
Friday – England: Roast dinner with the trimmings and apple crumble with custard
On Wednesday 25th October we will be having a celebratory party within the rooms, if you could dress your child in cultural clothing or bring them in with something that represents their culture this will be fantastic as we can celebrate together.
Jeans for Genes
On Friday 22nd September as a nursery we did fundraising for ‘jeans for genes day’.
We would like thank everyone who participated and thank you for your donations.
We raised a total of £25.01 for this cause.
Parent Committee Members
A reminder to all parents informing who the Parent Committee members are and which rooms they represent. Feel free to contact your representative for your child’s room to share any thoughts and opinions for any upcoming meetings. The committee members can be contacted at any time. We would like to remind all parents here at Monkey Puzzle we have an open door policy at all times.
Cake with receipts
Please can you ensure that if you bring a shop bought cake into the nursery that you provide a receipt of purchase. This is to validate that it has been bought from a shop and that the ingredients are authentic and does not have ingredients in it that are not specified on the packaging.
PUSHCHAIRS
Please note due to health and safety, pushchairs/ Scooters cannot be left in the corridor. This is a hazard and obstructs our fire escape. Parents are requested to collect their child/children before collecting their pushchairs.
Parents/Carers are requested to respect others properties and ensure pushchairs are folded when stored in the shed. In the event of not folding your child’s pushchairs, it will be removed. Pushchair’s stored in the shed are left at your own risk, Monkey Puzzle are not responsible for any damage which may be caused.
CHILDREN’S ATTENDANCE
We would like to remind all parents that children should be bought into nursery no later than 10:00 am, coming later than this time causes disruption within the rooms but also does not allow your child to follow the appropriate routines. Furthermore, they may miss out on activities that enhance their learning and development.
Parents are required to inform the nursery manager by email when your child is going to be absent explaining the reason and predicted date of return to the nursery. Monitoring children’s absences supports us in implementing the ‘prevent duty’ law.
Collection of children: If your child is going to be collected by a person who is not a familiar authorised parent/guardian, you must inform the office and your child’s room. Please ensure to provide the person who is collecting your child with your password, failure to do so will result in us not permitting your child to leave the nursery. Furthermore, that person should be able to present an ID if required.
Parents are not permitted to allow any other parents access to the nursery building, as stated within our policies and procedures. Be assured we have CCTV and know when parents are awaiting entry.
A staff member will allow you entry as soon as possible. Furthermore, please ensure you close the main door securely when entering/exiting the building.
Medication administration
In order for the staff to administer any medication to your child the medication should be prescribed by the GP and must have been on the medication for 48 hours prior. This ensures that it is labelled correctly with your Child’s name, date of prescription/expiry and prescribed dosage. A medication administration form must be signed by the parents when handing over the medication to authorise us to administer to your child.
Breakfast
Please note Breakfast is served from 8.00am till 8.30am. We cannot serve breakfast later than this as it effects the running and routine of the room. If your child does not make it in time for breakfast they will be served snack at 10.00am.
