November Newsletter
Topic of the month
This month’s topic is ‘Space’ which is broken down into four weeks.
• Planets
• Sun, Moon and Stars
• Astronauts
• Aliens
The children will be doing a variety of different activities in their rooms throughout the month to support the children’s learning and development of this subject.
Children in Need
Friday 17th November 2017 we are fundraising for children in need, we kindly ask all parents to donate £1.00 towards this cause. We are having a pyjama day all staff and children are welcome to come into nursery in their pyjamas.
Cake with receipts
Please can you ensure that if you bring a shop bought cake into the nursery that you provide a receipt of purchase. This is to validate that it has been bought from a shop and that the ingredients are authentic and does not have ingredients in it that are not specified on the packaging.
Weather
Winter is approaching and the weather is getting colder now. We have a duty to ensure children play outdoors everyday as it is key to their health, learning and development. Therefore, we kindly ask for parents to provide children with appropriate clothing to play outdoors, such as a warm coat, hat, gloves and scarf. Furthermore, can you please ensure your child has suitable footwear with closed shoes or boots. If your child wears slippers in the room can you also provide alternative footwear for the garden.
Clothing
We would like to remind parents to please label your child’s clothing. This helps to ensure that clothing does not go missing or accidently taken home by another parent etc.
We would like to also request you provide sufficient spare clothing for your child on a daily basis.
Reports
A polite reminder to all parents, can you please return your child’s report to their room by no later than Friday 17th November 2017. Please complete the comments section, sign and date. We greatly appreciate your feedback and involvement in your child’s education, care and development.
Children’s attendance
We would like to remind all parents that children should be bought into nursery no later than 10:00 am. Arriving later can cause disruption within the rooms and does not fully allow your child to follow the appropriate routines. Furthermore, they may miss out on fun activities that enhance their learning and development.
Child absence
Parents are required to inform the nursery manager by email or phone when your child is going to be absent explaining the reason and predicted date of return to the nursery. Monitoring children’s absences is part of our safeguarding policy and supports us in implementing the ‘prevent duty’ law.

Furthermore, that person should be able to present an ID if required.
