Topic of the month
This month our topic is Mini Beasts, the children will be learning about various creatures and insects in our environment.
To support the children’s learning we have Zoo Lab coming in to visit us on 22nd March where the children will be able see some real creatures up close.
All rooms will also be doing various insect related activities throughout the month.
Parents evening
Thank you to everyone that attended parents evening. We hope you found it beneficial and gained an insight into how we support your child/children’s learning and development here at monkey puzzle.
For any parents/ carers that were unable to attend parents evening or feel you need further discussion with the key worker, you are more than welcome to book an appointment with them.
We look forward to our next Parents evening in June.
Phonics Training
As you are aware we had a phonics training evening last month. We found it very beneficial and gained a better understanding of the correct way in which letters and sounds are pronounced. We will be sending out some helpful web links recommended in the training soon.
Deborah Osborne ‘British values’
As you are aware Deborah Osborne is our Nursery SENCO and EYFS Coordinator. Deborah also has excellent knowledge of the Prevent Duty and British Values and has written a book entitled “Teaching British Values to Children” which is available to buy on Amazon for £9.99. We are proud to have been featured in a recent article for “Practical Pre-School magazine.”
Red nose day
From the 20th March – 24th March we will be having a “Red nose Week” to raise money for charity. Throughout the week we encourage everyone to join in wearing e.g. red clothing, red noses, a crazy hair style etc. please can you donate to help raise money for charity. We will be having a cake sale and would appreciate any donations of cakes please. (Please note any cakes must be in sealed packaging with the ingredients listed on it and accompanied by the receipt)
Nursery Closure Reminder
We will be closed on the Friday 14th April ( Good Friday) and Monday 17th April (Bank Holiday)
Easter
On Thursday 13th April we will be having an Easter Bonnet parade and an Easter egg hunt for all the children. Support your child/children at home to make their own Easter bonnet for the parade. Encourage them to be as creative as possible.
There will be a prize for the parent of the child with the most creative bonnet.
Games Night
We would like to invite you to come and join in our parent and staff ‘Games’ night at the nursery on Friday 19th May from 7:30pm onwards. There will be a series of games on the night and each room has the opportunity to decide on a game for everyone to play.
In April we will post a sign up in your child’s /children’s room for you to put your name down if you will be coming.
We had ‘great fun’ on the quiz night we held so look forward to seeing you all there.
